Workplace privacy describes the extent to which employers monitor and collect information on the activities, communications and private lives of workers.

It's not very good to know somebody is monitoring in all what you do. We always need a few of privacy. Employers think that they need to know everything what we do in work time. On top of that, they guess that doing this they help us. I know many employees wast much time at work but too much surveillance it's not propitious.

Spiritual Renewal

Where can I start in the search for spiritual renewal?

Start with the realization that spiritual renewal comes from God. Don’t seek the experience of spiritual renewal, but seek the one who renews your spirit.

When people came to Jesus to have their needs met, very often He redirected their thinking. He taught them to lift their eyes from their own daily necessities and seek God first. He told them, “He will give you all you need from day to day if you live for him and make the Kingdom of God your primary concern.” (Matthew 6:33). In the same way, the psalmist in Psalm 111, encourages his listen­ers to look to God first, who will then meet their needs. He writes, “Who can forget the wonders He performs? How gracious and merciful is our Lord! He gives food to those who trust Him; He always remembers His covenant.” (Psalm 111:4-5)

Fasting and praying are the keys for habing  spiritual success. 

             "Fast and pray to avoid the tentation" Jesus said. How often  should people fast and pray?  The wisest people in the history of the humankind around the world have fasted and have prayed for long time, for instance, Jesus Christ who fasted for fourty days in the desert, and Mohamet who is the most important prophet figure in moslism and others. Those very important people claimed that everybody should fast and pray so often.  So that means that fasting and praying are very in important in the life of the human being, according to their point of view.

            It is true.  Fasting is good for us in many aspects. Because fasting is like  a training or an exercise by which we can practice refrain from something that we are needing or desiring. As soon as we do this frequently, we begin to take the control of ourselves. So we start talking the control of our emotions which are the pricipal causes of doing evil thing.  To control emotions and disires are our challenges in this world. And praying is the best friend of fasting.

           Praying is to talk to God. Whenever we pray, we are talking to God, and in the same way God is talking to us. Praying we could receive helps and  spiritual gifts from God. And onece Jesus said, "without praying is impossible to behave well in this world full of tentations." So praying and fasting are the keys to win the war against the evils or sins in our daily life.

             So fasting and praying have been the keys to those greatest men in the past and nowadays. In my case whenever I feel sad, weak or depressed, I go up to the top of a high mountain in Yamasa, and there I fast and pray for three days and when I come back, I have a spiritual renewal, and so I can continue the war against to the evil  and his delicious tentations.

FEW WORDS ABOUT ENGLISH 324 CLASS

  I did enjoyed taking part in ENGLISH 324 class, my vocabulary level increased significantly and I was able to feel myself like a real writer. It was cool to let my imagination fly at the moment of creating everything I wrote. The imagination is the most important source of creativity, and all comes and is born from it, I have learned how to do it and I do love writing.

  In the UNIT 1, THE INTERNET AND OTHER ADDICTIONS, I found myself writing from the position of a senior reporter who wrote about a problem which affected young people from India while I reviewed the modal auxiliaries used to express wish and unreality. I learned new words and expressions like rattling on each and finely honed, and many others.

   In UNIT 2 HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY I learned grammar topics related to modal auxiliaries used to express degrees of certainty. UNIT 3 THE BOLD AND BASHFUL inspired me to write about the way Dominicans feel under certain situations. Dominicans are shy or bold depending on the circumstances and the moment. This unit topic was chosen to write about in one of the quizzes we had. I played the listening audio files every day and every where and I still do it even now while I am writing my impressions about the class. I do not have a favorite unit, but in reality UNIT 6 SPIRITUAL RENEWAL was my favorite because all that has to do with  religion from the point of view of a free thinker attracts me tremendously.  I loved the interview with Thomas Merton and this one inspired me to write one on the final test. It was really fantastic!! In UNIT 5 FENG SHUI I played the role of a Listin Diario reporter who worked for an international edition that does not exist. The title of the article was: "Santo Domingo is a real mess", a title that portrays a situation  that matches perfectly because it is completely true. In UNIT 4 TIPPING POINT I summarized the vocabulary of the unit from A to Z, and at the end, in UNIT 7 WORKPLACE PRIVACY I found new words and phrases like these

Spiritual renewal

 It is important to believe in something forward the human flesh, I mean, there is a spiritual world that only you know about it when you feel the necessity to change yourself. Your belief sometime depends of your culture but your faith depends of yourself.

People just want to change when they have the necessity of something more, when they want to help, when they sacrifice themselves.

A way to sacrifice yourself is fasting, with this action you demonstrate that you are willing to change for helping, for getting faith in what you believe.

Workplace privacy

Nowaday people are being involved in technology and technology is consumed them, it is dropping the privacy. When you use your electronic devices, you are being expiated, or when you are doing something maybe a person is recording you. So, it is imposible not using this communication system, although you are aware that you are accepting to loss you privacy.

Feng shui

I think people have to apply Feng shui in their lives specially if we are aware that our actions are affecting the earth, the place where we live. We are causing that the earth planet is suffering damage because of the things that we are doing, for example, humans use to fell trees, this action causes that the air is less profitable for our body. This is one of those things that we do but it is harmful.

If we put in practice the Feng shui, we will improve our life's condiction. The best Feng shui would be to preserve those natural things that are so important for our health.

Shiness

Im not shy but sometimes when im in new places and with people i do not know,  im a little shy, but them i  feel good and im start making friends.  I mean im a bold person.

Privacy is important for everyone, in the workplace is important vigilance as, long as it does not violate the privacy of employees,  placing cameras only in the necessary places and without monitoring everything that employees do.

I try to have a closeness to God through prayer and visiting the church.
My way of renewing my spirit is by changing those things that i know are not right,  praying and asking for wisdon.

Feng Shui

 I organize my house thinking about how i feel more confortable , i mix colors that are agreeables to paint my house and decorated it,  i like plants and flowers,  I don't know it is the same in feng shui but i like it.

My Feng Shui Sperience.

         Feng Shui principles were used in my home unconsciously by a housekeeper service. A couple of weeks ago, my wife contracted to a householder woman service to cleaning our house because she was pregnant and almost getting birth, and she couldn't do those stuff. So we got out and we went to the mall to give her chance to cleaning the house while we were out. And at the end of the day around evening, we came back home.  What a great surprise!

      As soon as  we got into the house, we felt an amazing peace and the atmosphere were so different, so everything was like more relaxing. And I started feeling that  sensation which is so difucult to discribe it, but it's like a deep spiritual peace. The energy around was completely changed.
   
     I began  to ques myself about it. Why  can I feel everything different and why do I feel this positive sensation, what it has happened and what did that woman do different than my wife while she was cleaning. what I noteced was that she made some changes, I mean she moved some stuff. For instance,  she changed the position my bed, the mirror and the dining room table. Moreover  she brought in  some live plants which were outside in the barcony and moved a wall pictures and put it in other wall.  So I concluded that those simple changes couldn't do those hilarious and great atmosphere chenges  in my home life.

   But the next day in my English class, I got  all the answers for my  questions. The professor was teaching about Feng Shui principles,  and he was saying that according to F.S. principles colocating things in the right position in you space could make a great difference in your home atmosphere. And was so, how I knew and sperienced the power of Feng Shui principles.

But the most interesting part of it is that the woman who had change the atmosphere of my home doesn't know nothing about Feng Shui principles. she never hear this word. That's why I said she used unconsciously F.S. principles in my home.  So I have to say very welcome F.S.

SPIRITUAL RENEWAL

   his unit is about esperitual renewal, that can be defined as the process of growth and transformation into the image of God.

There are different way of replenish your soul or spirit.
Many people practice spiritual renewal by, fasting, spending time along, visiting spiritual communities, doing charity activities, and so on.

In my particular case,  very Christian person, I belive in god With my soul, but I respet the beliefs of others.

To replenish my soul, I fast just on holly week one morning, I pray to God two times a day every day, when I wake up and before I go to sleep, I try to be a good person and do the right things. That makes me feel good, and for me it is enough, I belive what some form all have a spiritual Renewal..

FENG SHUI

Well the first time what I heard to  Feng Shui was here in the class, Feng Shui is something new for me . I can say that had never heard about that before . So ,I'm really interested in getting information about this important topic which seems to have excelents benefits for people whom apply its principles .
About Feng Shui I only know that it's an ancient chinese tradition that have become popular in many countries and continents . According to the definition given by Kirsten Lagatree in her book Feng Shui :"It's the art of aligning things in the enviroment to create harmony and good luck". In her boom she also that many people whom have followed Feng Shui's principles ,succeed in life. I mean economically.
Another fact related to feng shui has to do with some symbols such as ;mirrors ,acquariuns at the en trance of the house ,etc.
If you are an expert or know more details than me ,I would like you to share with me .I'm interested in applying Feng Shui.

I think The main idea of ​​the book Tipping point is that there is a point of inflection from which the effects of a project or idea are maximized by creating a significant change. For this process Gladwell makes a comparison of this process with the development of epidemics, that is, the uses and customs, traditions and thoughts that spread as epidemics between societies

In the tipping point writes an engaging book exploring why and how and how things happen. He asks questions such as How do advertisers get us to by products or go see movies ? why do people suddenly stop doing something the way they have  always done it? according to Gladwell the transmission of ideas often occurs in the same way as the passing of germ from one person to another, so like epidermic..

when  When I was 3 weeks pregnant, in 2014 my husband and I spoke with the director of district 18-04 of jimani to give me my transfer to Santo Domingo since he got a job here in the city and we had used our savings to finance an apartment, and she refused to give it to me, I traveled every week from Santo Domingo to jimani to work, gave birth to my daughter and traveled with my daughter just born and so it took 4 years, I traveled from Santo Domingo to jimani knocked many doors, we talked to a lot of politicians to see if they helped us, we went many times to the ministry of education and they ignored us, until they changed the director of the district who was also a teacher and identified with my cause.

and he gave me my letter of departure, and now I have 5 months living here sleeping in my house without the worry that on Sundays I have to go down to jimani to work and above all, I do not withdraw from the subjects of the university because I'm already here!!! I consider myself very Pollyanna very optmist, because in that situation do not throw the towel.

In Dominican Republic high prices of gasoline are generating that population take part in reviled group movement which protest for changings. Many strike are being caused. Population has reviled against authority and they do anything. Mavens politicians speak about something has to be done before people get out of control. Authority win people over with nice words and all stay the same.

In some kind of places like a call centers the surveillance is terrible in some cases because the extreme way some employers keeps an eye on the employees. For that reason, they feel unhappy because they are stressed out knowing their employer or securities are monitoring them and they can listen to their conversations on the phone all the time.
  The employers can observe how their employees perform their tasks and if something is happening out of ordinary.  As in any, the workplaces privacy has it pros and cons.

Spiritual renewal

In this lesson, I learned about what people do in a monastery and some experiences they have when they go to visit one, especially the way they experiment the spiritual renewal, for example they practice fasting in some occasions or daily according to their religious and also some of them spend time alone for meditation because they are looking for a approximation to God and also they are looking for having a moment of peace.

Feng shui is considered as an ancient art or practice that it comes from China for arranging the enviroment in order to achive harmony and good luck in that place.
In this unit I learned the importance of its use and the increased value in some countries like United States, Canada, Europe and Latin America.
The professor mentioned that Donald Trump doesn't make a move without a Feng Shui advisor.

Workers are often accustomed to personal privacy in their private lives, but employers are not necessary obligated to give workers  privacy  while they are in the job. Employers hire workers to perform specific tasks but some employees take that times to talk with friends   and listen to music.

For that  reason some employers dont allow workers to use social networking websides at work and may monitor web activity to ensure that workers adhere to the rules also employees  should be aware of an employer s policies regarding personal activities that aren't related to work.

spirital renewal

Spiritual renewal has more to do with two things.  First, reawakened and rediscovering identity and second, a  sense of mission and practice.  When do you feel most yourself, and   What do you do that gives you the most joy.  Why is it when you are this certain person or do this particular thing that you think to yourself, “This is me” and further, this feels so deep and so spiritual that you feel so good doing that.

We feel this in some moments doing a few things. We experience this in our relationships, we feel this when we hold the hand of someone dear to us.  sometimes we feel this when we serve others, when we listen and support a friend or when we create something beautiful.

it is important to believe in god because when you believe in  God your life changes for the better and everything comes out well.

My first job was in a Call center in Santo Domingo. I was notified since the first day that my manager would be listening my calls randomly in order to see my performance. I accepted the job; however, everytime he was listening to me on the other side while I was on the phone, I felt awkward. 

I think call centers should not listen to agents the same moment they are on the phone because that would lower their performance. I experienced that and my co workers too. Whenever he listened to us with a customer, we felt like robots trying not to make any mistake and sounded very unnatural while talking. On the other hand, we used to do way better when we were freely answering the phonecalls.

I know it is important for managers to know how well we do on the phone, but they could evaluate our work by listening to finished calls. 

In conclusion, I would say that this experience made my feel like my privacy was invaded. 

Unit 6- Misconceptions about religion

This unit (spiritual renewal) made me think of a movie I watched once called "Malos habitos". One of the main characters was a woman who had an inflected idea of what fasting/praying is. She left her career and became a nun in order to save the world. She prayed at all times and fasted in a drastic way by not eating at all.

She got this eating disorder after seeing her uncle shoking from eating. While seeing her family trying to save him, she prayed to God. Fortunately, God listened to her pray. After this event, she thought bad about food and decided to "fast" in order to save the world from a tragedy that would occur. But, it was only part of her imagination.

This movie gives us a great message about religion. It does not matter the doctrine you decide to follow. Make sure that it makes you feel happy and in peace. Fasting or praying should never be painful nor against your health. Do not exaggerate.

  Oskay: I remember perfectly when my dad used to tell me those odd stories. I did not understand them clearly, but I did my best to follow him from the beginning. He once mentioned Sai Baba, a modern Indian prophet, and the way he said that name called my attention profoundly, and since that very moment I began to seek everything related and connected to those characters that seemed to come from a place, beyond earth, I mean not from this planet. They called themselves prophets and monks.

  Kyorin: What do you exactly mean when you say “beyond this planet”?

  Oskay: Well, it is difficult to explain, but it feels as normal as taking the sun and feel the energy as it touches your whole body. It feels the same when one starts fasting and goes till certain climax or culmination; because a bond is created between the reality and the Divine.

  Oskay: My dad used to say few things about it, but I was not able to understand his saying at that time. Now I do. The satisfaction they find living their lives, full of action, and hectic competence fill them up thoroughly to the point they see nothing beyond what is normal, because for them  it is hard to pull back from what they call normal...

I personally felt really attracted by Yogananda's teachings related to fasting, pray, and deep meditation, but I was not able to get what I was really seeking, and I am still seeking it, while I face sporadic  episodes of inner turmoil.

         It is normal in these days that most of the employers keep an aye on and constantly evaluate employees to make sure they are getting the job done correctly. Employees are under surveillance all the time at work by cameras, ID badges, computers, etc.

        Even though I do not agree with such methods of surveillance against employees, all employers have the right to know and make sure that their employees are doing what they are supposed to be doing. Employers have the right to monitor their equipment and the working area, as long as they do not violate the safeguards that protect employees' privacy. An example of this is eavesdropping on personal telephone conversations that take place during the workday. This activity is totally prohibited by The Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA) of 1986.

       There are some positive aspects that surveillance can prevent at work. It can deter theft, prevent or stop sexual harrassment, and prevent or stop racial discrimination.

       On the other hand, according to different researchers, the surveillance at work lower productivity and lead the employees to feel demeaned and disrespected.

Spiritual renewal - Importance of Fasting for religious people

Why fasting is important for religious people?

        Fasting is a very old habit. It is as old as humanity itself. Fasting is a very important habit for religious people, in which they refrain from eating and drinking during a specific period of time.

      One of the most important things of this habit is that religious people belief that they can get closer to God by fasting. Therefore, they experience a sense of satisfaction and well-being.

     Religious people fast so they could be able to replenish their souls and increasy spirituality, and also as an escape of this hectic life.

Is feng shui real or not?

I was looking for extra information about Feng shui in the internet and surprisingly found lot of articles from people talking about their experience with this practice. They alleged that they could achieve harmony and that their lives have changed after it.

 I respect all opinions especially those regarding beliefs but I do not think Feng Shui exists. What I think is that people crave so much a change in their lives that they feel something else is working, but in fact, it is themselves who became more positive about life. It is something psychological. For example, once as a kid I had a strong headache and my mother gave me a pill. After few minutes it started working as I thought it was an aspirin. However, she revealed that it was just a mint.

On the other hand, I do agree with the fact that having your house organized makes you feel happy, but spending a big amount of money on remodeling to have a fake spirit around your house would be an exaggeration for me.

Santo Domingo City is a real mess

    Santo Domingo City has become one of the messiest cities of Latin America. Through the frown upon observation of designers and hard-bitten builders The Prime of America lost its position as one of the most visited cities of Central Latin America, title which kept for around 24 years after the celebration of the Fifth Centenary of the New World, celebrated all across the nation in 1992. Its transcendent glamour constructed under veil of glory, faced a tremendous digression under the administration of Mayor Roberto Salcedo, who did not align the city to international design standards when he was running the City Hall. 


   Many citizens complained about it and for the same reasons several representatives of the Chinese community settled in the country were consulted to see if they could contribute in the organization of the city through the Feng Shui principles. “The former mayor was caught off-guard during his last year running the City Hall”. Said Patricia Marcos, current municipal manager of Santo Domingo Norte City Hall. 

Santo Domingo was a silent witness of the abundance and good taste, and we just can remember Salcedo quoting what he once said: ¨Working together our city will live in glamour again¨.


But today it is just a bunch of hollow words.

Mr. Johnny Brown, President of University Security Board has a talk to Dr. Robert Cubcottons, General Manager of Security Force Industry Headquaters in Denver, Colorado about the importance of security in university campuses and the recent incidents occurred at Dean Michael University.

Mr. Brown: In my opinion, I think there should more prevention instead of a ridiculous sense of justification in that case. This matter can´t be considered a hot issue, but a sneaking suspicion that should be related to the university as a whole, not to the public eye.

Dr. Cubcottons: I share the same point, but what happened affected all students and employees of the academia as well, and the president of the board said that the safeguards did not work properly.

  And on top that, several findings were reported to the local newspaper without letting us know first, and myself on behalf of GMSFI felt a little demeaned when the news was broken without our permission, since security and privacy is A1, not only because we are selling the protection they need, but also the high level of responsibility we must have.

Mr. Brown: I see. Some say few racial slurs closed you the possibility of opening a surveillance division in few university laboratories near the north coast due to the lack of an acute protocol when reporting situations like this. What do you think about it? What´s the university position in regards to the incident?

Dr. Cubcottons: Yes, it is true, but the sole idea of doing those things improperly could create a feeling of incapacity among our partners around the USA. We will work to solve the problem properly and the university will maintain our services till the demise of the contract.

From my point of view, the company is right when it keep an eye on the employees according to different cases involved with the workplace. What a about when the worker is stealing a stuff? In Doninican Republic, this is one the most relevant issue for the store, thus, it must use a surveillance system in order to protect from a shoplifting; furthermore, a lot of stores have broken this social trouble. Other point is when a worker is alone in a room and he suddenly become ill, a camera could be the first tool that save his life. Moreover, the company is right to know about the employes' performing. However, every company must make its procedure with the purpose to avoid a sinister treatment against its workers.

Spiritual Renewal

Everyone who get into the religous world do that for different reasons. At the beggining, some of them live a spiritual empty, so they could replenish their soul as they practice the experience of brotherhood. Other people feel their life don't make sense after they experiment a sad anecdote; nevertheless, as they are conected with this world, a well-being renew their life. Besides, some people never give up to think of their guilt, thus, they need to get away from it even they move to other place with the purpose to forget this past error. Asking for divine presence has the best results.
