According to Maya Lister (62), former New Delhi Times columnist, 67% of young people from Calcutta are online almost the whole day after ending their school assignments, provoking, as a result, most of their bad learning habits and the lack of interest in their educational development. Since their devoting to online activities ¨steals¨ reviewing homework time, Mrs. Kagti Kurra, mother of one the respondents, claimed that the levels of compulsiveness among those teenager is so alarming, that the situation has demanded her and other parents to engage the services of several professional therapists to assist them on a daily basis commitments, in regards to the teenagers´ behaviors.
Mrs.Kurra's son and other young boys, from the same neighborhood, have been receiving therapy since last October. "I wish Pravee hadn´t been around by the time Teddcom started working on the network projects. My son was not able to end his high school year". Said Mrs. Kurra. Praveen got the chance to get registered in Charles King Royal School after obtaining a full two-year grant, but due to his Facebook® ¨addition¨ he could not conclude his last school year. After presenting the outcomes of its last survey New Delhi Times concluded that it is quite difficult to put together all the data and researches made so far because of the lack interest in the issue, a contradiction but a complete reality. Authorized support groups have gathered some information, but it is still insufficient to have a clear picture of the whole matter, while parents are conveying their thoughts on the issue, social sectors are demanding for more regulations to slow down the excess of digital media use and social network connectivity among teenagers.
"The local authorities will meet with community leaders and neighborhood associations to follow up on the most recent cases and to comply with the commitments made at the last meeting". Expressed Mr. Bagadti, president of the Regional Council of Youth of Calcutta.
