An addiction can be anything that you can't live without. You become dependent on it and may even lie or steal for it. The most common ones nowadays besides drugs, alcohol and cigarettes are:
Work, sex, internet, games, pornography, shopping, gambling, even plastic surgeries.
It can be hard to admit we are addicted to something but if you present with these symptoms, consider stopping it right away.
Signs of addiction:
-The need to have it in your life.
- Mood change
- weight loss
-Depression
-Lying to your family and friends
-Loss of interests in activities
-Problems at school, work and with people around you.
-Stealing to afford what you are addicted to
-Changes in sleeping or eating habits
-Feeling sick when trying to stop
How to deal with it:
-First of all, recognize the problem.
-Make a list of reasons who you should overcome the addiction.
- Look for help. Find someone you trust and tell him or her about the issue. Not only someone you trust but also someone who is capable of giving you a good advice and leads you through a good path.
-Look for professional help.
-Stop seeing people who might influence you negatively.
-Taking tiny, gradual steps toward your goal makes it easier to reach it. This works better for most people.
-Get involved in other types of activities that are positive for your brain and body so you get distracted.
